Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT)

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) is an independent body that conducts merit reviews of decisions made by the Department of Home Affairs. In its review process, the AAT reconsiders the facts, law, and policy of the original decision, and can assess new information that was not available to the original decision-maker.
