There are three main types of Partner Visas.
Subclass 820/801 Onshore Partner Visa
The Subclass 820/801 visas are onshore Partner Visas that allow the spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia. This visa pathway involves two stages: a temporary visa (Subclass 820) and a permanent visa (Subclass 801)
Subclass 309/100 (Offshore) Partner Visa
The Subclass 309/100 visas are offshore Partner Visas that allow the spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia. This visa pathway involves two stages: a temporary visa (Subclass 309) and a permanent visa (Subclass 100).
Subclass 300 (Prospective Marriage Visa)
The Subclass 300 visa is an offshore visa that allows the fiancé(e) of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to come to Australia to marry their partner. This visa grants temporary residence, allowing the couple to marry within the time of the visa being granted. After the marriage, the visa holder can apply for an onshore Partner Visa (Subclass 820/801) to transition to permanent residency.
